Hydrolysis and Analysis of Agricultural Wastes Using Mineral Acids for Possible Glucose Synthesis

چکیده

This work focuses on conversion of agricultural wastes into fermentable sugar via acid hydrolysis. Proximate and ultimate analysis was carried out to ascertain the physiochemical properties biomass feedstock sugar. Mineral such as hydrochloric (HCl) sulfuric (H2SO4) used media for plantain peels water yam Concentration glucose analyzed using DNS techniques. Modelling process done three established kinetic models determine rate determining step. Results showed that untreated contained 30.1% 6.4% cellulose but increased significantly 55.1% 10.03% after hydrolysis indicating increase in In comparing same conditions plantain-HCl, plantain-HS, yam-HCl yam-HS at 80°C with concentration/sample ratio 0.5:2 time 90 mins, HCl yield highest concentration 4.09mg/l while condition produced 2.031mg/l. Second order model appears be best fit better correlation coefficient R2 >99% a reaction temperature 60oC conforming The demonstrated an increasing constant which agrees magnitude process. will help solving energy need our society if commercialized. Also, it can serve viable alternative environmental cleanliness because become raw materials. Plantain good potential source performed better.
